Insert excerptA Day in the Life of a People & Culture Manager
Hi Y’all!
I'm Kevin, Too Good To Go's People & Culture Manager in New York. I am originally from Copenhagen, Denmark - but have spent the last 6 years in the US. I joined the Too Good To Go team about 6 months ago and I'm extremely excited about the mission and the ambitions of growth in the company - there is no better combo than that!
I am currently helping to support the onboarding of our new US markets. My main focus is to keep up the great vibes around our offices, making sure the team is motivated, happy and that there is trust. I love people and it’s deep in my DNA to host and make people feel included. I truly believe that motivated team members are the foundation of any successful business. We all have a tremendous set of strengths that we bring to the table, and spend a lot of time learning from each other to become even better at our jobs! ONE TEAM!
Today I’ll take you through my day of onboarding our new team in Austin, TX while balancing my regular day-to-day.
5:30AM I got up early today to get my road dog, Walter some exercise before the long day ahead of us.
7:00AM Headed to our new office in Downtown Austin with coffee and breakfast from Easy Tiger, my new favorite morning spot (hopefully they’ll be a new partner soon). We gotta make sure the team is fueled for the long day of training!
8:00AM Time to get the new office space at Industrious all set for a fun and successful kick-off here in Austin. Of course, I had to spiff it up with a little Too Good To Go love to make it festive!
9:00AM Our team is finally here! We have some Austin locals joining the team, as well as a few people from New York and Seattle who are here to join this training session. Pretty awesome! We're off to a great start with Too Good To Go swag for everyone.
After getting the new team situated with our Sales Trainer, Cat, it's time for me to finish up a few of my admin tasks. We’re hiring a lot, so I have a backlog of Offer Letters I need to put together and send out! YAY! MORE WASTE WARRIORS!!!
12:00PM Walter and I are in charge of lunch so we're hitting the road to find the best lunch in the city. Honestly, bad decision, because it is so hot!
2:00PM Time to catch up on a few things. I have some meetings with the P&C team about the onboarding but there are a few roadblocks on the way. Joshua in New York always ends up helping out at the last minute with the quick fixes - don’t know what we would do without him! The teamwork really reflects how we fight together, even though we are all in different cities across the US.
3:00PM Time for a recruitment meeting, one of my favorite parts of my job. As mentioned earlier, we are hiring a tremendous amount of people in the US for many different roles and it’s such a fun challenge!
I love meeting new people, seeing some amazing talent, and being able to give people great opportunities with Too Good To Go. It's nice to see people get excited about our mission, a feeling that really resonates with me.
It makes me proud to work for our company and be able to teach people about how important fighting food waste is for our planet. People go from being surprised about the impact to quickly getting all their friends to download our app once they see what we're all about. Whether or not they join our team officially, they're becoming Waste Warriors who can help make our planet a better place!
5:00PM It’s time for happy hour... ON A MONDAY. It’s gonna be a good week.
We want to make sure the team is ending a long day of learning with a good time and a chance to connect in a laid-back environment, so I set up a few hours for us at a local sports bar.
That's all for me this time, my waste warrior family. I gotta go enjoy a cold one!
Thanks so much for following along! Interested in joining our team? Too Good To Go is currently hiring for new positions nationwide. To see all of our open positions, visit our CAREERS PAGE.
